Featured Coffee Fridays: Papua New Guinea

Papua New Guinea is the featured coffee for all of February! We think this is one of our most underrated coffees and we’re excited for more poeple to discover it!

This is the first single origin coffee that we’re featuring. When it comes to coffee beans, there are single origins and blends. Single origin means just that, beans from one place. They’re all named by where they’re from (e.g., Mexico, Colombia, etc.). A blend is when we mix different single origins together at different ratios (e.g., Gorilla Roast, Mission Blend, etc.).

This coffee is grown on the eastern half of the island of New Guinea, just North of Australia, which is known as Papua New Guinea. The western half (roughly) is simply Papua, part of Indonesia. Approximately 8 million people live in Papua New Guinea, which encompasses both the main island and the nearby islands off the coast.

This medium roast coffee is deeply dimensioned yet well-balanced, with mild and mellow yet broad flavors that provide a bright and clean taste — a classic, delicate sweetness complemented by an exotic, complex and fruity aroma.

The region produces coffees with lots of oils. This makes it ideal in a french press or steel-filter drip coffee maker which allows the natural oils and flavors to shine.
